GRiZ invites Wiz Khalifa for a new feature on “Find My Own Way”—a soulful gospel piece from GRiZ’s upcoming Ride Waves LP. The track has an upbeat tone about perseverance, introducing Khalifa early on with delicate jazz piano and accompanying horns. The Pittsburgh-native rapper glides effortlessly along the easygoing rhythm that flows into a Sunday service hook presented by the Harlem Gospel Choir. There’s a bridge that brings the brass section out front, allowing those funky GRiZ horns some due time to shine. A second verse showcases a more familiar Khalifa flow, contrasting to his first more melodic vocal section.
The Michigan DJ/producer told Complex,
“I wanted to write a song that reflects how it feels to lose your way in life, and also lift yourself back up and find the strength to keep going. Always trust in the process and yourself. Wiz spit some real knowledge here. Was such an honor to have him on this project!”
“Find My Own Way” is the fifth single released from GRiZ’s upcoming 14-track LP, set to drop in full on April 5. After the album, GRiZ embarks on a US tour starting March 23. Pre-order Ride Waves on iTunes here.
