As\u00a0history has taught us<\/a><\/strong>, Joel “Deadmau5” Zimmerman isn’t too fond of his image being used without permission. So it shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise to masked producer Marshmello that including\u00a0a cameo from a mau5 look-alike in the video for his new track\u00a0Ritual <\/em>would\u00a0<\/em>rub dance music’s\u00a0serial antagoniser\u00a0the wrong way.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, team Deadmau5 asked Marshmello to remove the fake\u00a0mau5 from\u00a0his Ritual<\/em> video, something that didn’t exactly soothe tensions<\/a><\/strong> between the pair.\u00a0“Someone wasn’t happy with the last video so we had to put up a new one,” OWSLA-signee\u00a0Marshmello said in a now-deleted tweet, sharing the link to a re-uploaded version of Ritual<\/em>.\u00a0Needless to say, the tweet didn’t go unnoticed by Joel.<\/p>\n

“I’d rather be associated with a pile of dog shit to be completely honest,” Zimmerman hit back when one Twitter user asked him why he got\u00a0Marshmello to take the video down. “At least dog shit isn’t starving for my attention…It’s a shitty owsla tactic. Oh well. I hope they make billions. I still get to be me.”<\/p>\n

Of course, it’s not the first time Deadmau5 and Marshmello have sparred. Last year Joel and his former protege Skrillex got into a highly-publicised<\/a><\/strong> Twitter spat after Deadmau5\u00a0called Marshmello\u00a0\u201cannoying\u201d and described his fans as a \u201cbrain dead posse of deaf sheep\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarshmello is this young kid who looks up to deadmau5, and the first tweet he gets from deadmau5 is talking shit about him. That\u2019s when I had to stand up and be like, \u2018Stop being a fucking bully to people,\u2019\u201d Skrillex\u00a0said in an interview<\/a><\/strong> with Complex<\/em> this year. “It\u2019s sad, because I can\u2019t change the way deadmau5 is. He knows he\u2019s an asshole and he glorifies himself that way. I think he\u2019s probably ashamed of it.”<\/p>\n
