Collecting data from Instagram posts tagged with the hashtags #hottest100, #triplejhottest100, #triplejhottest1002016 and #hottest1002016, the website has tallied thousands of votes and allowed Whyte to generate an accurate prediction of what the final count will look like.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did this sort of thing last year, and shared the results with five or six friends,\u201d Whyte told our sister site Junkee. \u201cLast year I got the top three, and if you don\u2019t count the order of the top ten I got eight out of ten.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"related-articles\">\n<div class=\"related-articles__single related-articles__single--withimage\">\n    <div class=\"articles__group clearfix\">\n        <div class=\"related-articles__heading\">\n            Read More\n        <\/div>\n        <a class=\"related-articles__single__image\" href=\"http:\/\/inthemix.junkee.com\/80-best-tracks-2016\/148373\" >\n            <img src=\"http:\/\/inthemix.junkee.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/TOTY2016-320x213.jpg\" \/>\n        <\/a>\n        <a class=\"related-articles__single__title\" href=\"http:\/\/inthemix.junkee.com\/80-best-tracks-2016\/148373\" >\n            <span class=\"related-articles__single__group\">\n                The 80 Best Tracks of 2016&nbsp;&nbsp;<i class=\"fa fa-angle-right\"><\/i>\n            <\/span>\n        <\/a>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whyte says he was inspired by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fasterlouder.junkee.com\/spoiler-alert-warmest-100-predicts-upset-winner-for-the-2013-hottest-100\/835485\" >the Warmest 100<\/a><\/strong>, a short-lived website that accurately predicted 92 out of 100 songs in the 2013 count by cracking the algorithms that let users share their ballots on Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels. The website drew the ire of triple j management, who ended up changing their social sharing system to make the outcome harder to predict.<\/p>\n<p>Last year we also saw <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/fasterlouder.junkee.com\/does-the-tepid-100-reveal-the-winners-of-the-2015-hottest-100-poll\/855459\" >the Tepid 100<\/a><\/strong> use Instagram data to guess the end result\u00a0\u2013 although the order was somewhat askew.<\/p>\n<p>So who\u00a0does Warm Tuna say is going to win? At the time of publication, with data still rolling in, Amy Shark\u2019s <em>Adore<\/em> currently sits at number one, followed by Flume\u2019s <em>Never Be Like You<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs it currently stands I\u2019m pretty sure that Flume\u2019s going to top it,\u201d says Whyte. \u201c<em>Adore<\/em> being up at number one, I don\u2019t know about that. You can see that <em>Adore<\/em> has got 25 more votes than Flume, but that\u2019s really nothing. 25 votes in a two per cent sample size, that can swing heaps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Along with\u00a0<em>Never Be Like You<\/em>, Flume&#8217;s also back in there at #8 with\u00a0<em>Say It<\/em>, while Peking Duk&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Stranger\u00a0<\/em>comes in at #10.
