Aurous is being described as the Popcorn Time of music. According to its founder Andrew Sampson, Aurous uses APIs from websites like Apple Music, Spotify and SoundCloud to create free, fast-streaming playlists. Aurous’ intention was to create a compilation of streaming services in order to get as much free music out to the public. While Aurous sounds like a great idea in theory, just hours after launching Aurous, Sampson was hit with a lawsuit. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) states that Sampson created this application with full knowledge of its infringement of copyright. The lawsuit also states that

The American Music Awards is an annual music awards show that was created by Dick Clark back in 1973. For the past four decades, the American Music Awards have chosen the leading musicians in their respective genres. Now decades later, the American Music Awards have unveiled the nominations for the 2015 year. The nominees were partially revealed by Charlie Puth and Joe Jonas on October 13th via Good Morning America. While electronic music continues to rise in popularity and demand, streaming services evolve and dominate new markets with ease as well in the new digital age. According to the latest report from Nielsen Soundscan, total song streaming by Americans has nearly doubled in the first nine months of 2015. Additionally, a new report from Billboard shows that two thirds of American homes are streaming audio over broadband.  While many new users and streamers continue to use free services, the number of paid streaming service subscriptions has also increased (although on a smaller scale) from 7.9 million to 8.1 this year through the end of summer.
