While fans acquaint themselves with the new Deadmau5 opus, While (1<2), its creator has gone back to work. Re-energized from a vacation in Ibiza, Joel Zimmerman’s now busy “re-wiring” his Toronto studio and sorting through hours of Gumball 3000 footage.
When Zimmerman and his driving partner Tory Belleci set out on the rally, they were tailed by a camera crew who captured each phase of the cross-continental journey. Now comes an early look at the resulting road movie, with a ‘mini teaser’ uploaded to the official Deadmau5 YouTube channel today. Even better, the video is set to perfectly-suited music found on While (1<2), and features striking scenes from the week-long drive.
In this ‘teaser,’ we see Team Purrari travel from Miami to Ibiza in Zimmerman’s unmistakeable custom Ferrari 458 Spider. “It’s like the Marmite of cars,” he admits on camera. “You either love it, or you hate it, but there’s no, ‘Oh, it’s alright.’” From the looks of this video, it really was an epic adventure. To cap it all off, after crossing the finish line, Zimmerman and Belleci were awarded the coveted Spirit of the Gumball trophy by founder Maximillion Cooper.
Even if you don’t share the producer’s love of fast cars, this is a must-watch for fans. Plus, if you haven’t yet picked up While (1<2), you’ll want to after hearing it as the soundtrack here. Check out the ‘mini teaser’ below, and stay tuned for more.
