Techno legend Richie Hawtin has shared the inaugural release from new imprint From Our Minds (FOM), an offshoot of Hawtin’s Plus 8 Records. Hawtin’s Time Warps EP is the Canadian artist’s first dance-centric release since 1999. Although it’s only two-songs long, the EP houses 35 minutes of deep, club-ready techno.
“As we went into lockdown and the noise of constant touring faded, time opened up in a unique way. This time of reflection and refraction became the basis of a different approach and the beginning of something new,” Hawtin said of the EP.
Soon accompanying Time Warps will be a video for the title track, to be released via HATE’s YouTube channel. A vinyl for the EP will be available beginning December 4. Time Warps is Hawtin’s first release since his collaboration with Prada in September under his Plastikman moniker.
