Dancing Astronaut - house, electro, progressive, dubstep

Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying.

1. “Paticakes” was a mere freebie from the UK underground house don known as Ben Pearce, but it’s supple grooves and gorgeous vocal samples make for the sort of docile house one could wake up to every morning.

2. Tito Wun’s latest creation for Defected Records is right on the money for all those nostalgic soul and hip-hop fans out there, but it’s Doc Daneeka’s remix that brings an extra slice of cool to the equation courtesy his punchy house etiquette.

3. Complimented by Jes’s proven panache for an amazing topline, Sweden’s Drop out Orchestra execute live bass and a beautiful nu-disco backbone for their own take on “Foreign Language” to the avail of a smooth cut well on par with Flight Facilities’ renowned original.

4. Isaac Tichauer has been no overnight sensation. With more than two years of releases behind him, those docile house manoeuvres sounded just as strong 12 months ago when “I Forgive You” showed its face. This was enough to give the world yet another reason to believe that the calmer side of the genre were soon to be dominated by this Australian heavyweight.

5. When he isn’t moonlighting as unexpected crossover king Ten Walls, Mario Basanov is a stone cold indie-dance/nu disco killer. It takes a fair studio hand to make Crazy P sound any more intoxicating, but the Lithuanian’s fluid remix is the sort of cool, calm and collected cut that sloth like Sunday activity begs for.
