We’ve still got another six weeks to go before the October 27 release of Dillon Francis’ debut album Money Sucks, Friends Rule, but he’s keeping the waiting game interesting.
After commanding our attention with a tracklisting of all-star collaborations, we’re getting an early listen to his Major Lazer team-up, “We Make It Bounce.”
Based on two previous album cuts – the radio-geared “When We Were Young” and moombahton gem ”I Can’t Take It” – we already knew the album is going to be a genre-spanning listen. Featuring vocals from reggae vocalist Stylo G, “We Make It Bounce”(which premiered today via Idolator) continues that theme. Here’s the all-caps recommendation from Dillon himself: ”AS I SAY AT EVERY SHOW I NEED TO SEE YOU BOUNCING TO THIS SHIT!”
This track also welcomes back the Major Lazer crew to our speakers, following their February 2014 EP Apocalypse Soon. However, don’t expect the collective to stay quiet for much longer. According to Diplo, fans can expect a new Major Lazer album in early 2015. “There are a lot of big name acts we hope to be featured on the album,” he told Idolator. ”I’ve been working with a lot of different people the last couple of years, so I’m pulling all the favors for this record for sure.”
As for Francis, he’ll be gearing up for the release of Money Sucks, Friends Rule, followed by a nationwide tour kicking off November 17 in Nashville. For the road-trip, he’ll be joined by a full roster of buzz-worthy recruits including TJR, Bro Safari, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Anamanaguchi and even a rare showing from DJ Hanzel. Take a listen to “We Make It Bounce” below.
