Your Shot academy and competition for aspiring DJs to launch in U.S. this fall

Your Shot — a no-experience-necessary DJ competition and music academy — is coming stateside for the first time ever this September. Founded in Australia in 2010, the program has since welcomed more than 120,000 registrations, 250,000 attendees, and 12,500 contestants in the time since.

Designed to democratize DJ culture, Your Shot empowers beginners to step outside their comfort zones and access a creative world often limited by financial or social barriers. Over six weeks in both New York and Los Angeles, participants receive hands-on training from industry professionals, learning the fundamentals of mixing, music selection, and live performance skills. The academy ends with a live showcase event where contestants perform in front of fans, industry professionals, and talent scouts. And Your Shot’s U.S. advisory board includes the likes of Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch alumni LP Giobbi, Vibee President Harvey Cohen, and management company The Circuit Group, who represents Chris Lake, Fisher, deadmau5, and more.

Your Shot winners earn a coveted slot at a global music festival, with past contestants having performed at Ultra, CRSSD, Hideout, Snow Machine, and more. Notable alumni include artists Tigerlily, Sippy, Club Angel, and Go Freek. Registration is now open online, with in-person selections taking place September 13th at Catch One in Los Angeles and September 20th at Elsewhere in New York.
