Electronic Music Conference announces two nights of emerging artist showcases

Category: EDM NEWS

As Australian producers cut a swathe across the world, the race to find the next Tommy Trash, Flume, What So Not, Will Sparks or Anna Lunoe is on. And wise talent seekers will be heading to Sydney, Australia this December for the 2014 Electronic Music Conference (EMC): three days of industry panels, workshops and networking events, as well as two nights of showcase parties featuring the best emerging artists in Australian dance music.

Electronic Music Conference today announced EMC Play: two nights of parties in Sydney’s Kings Cross on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December, showcasing emerging artists from labels and brands like Onelove, Future Classic, Konkrete, Lucky Entertainment, Sweat It Out, inthemix, Astral People, Pilerats, the #JDFutureLegends program and other leading collectives.

Programmed by Dan Zilber, the former General Manager of Music at taste-making Sydney radio station FBi, with the help of an industry panel including the head of record label Future Classic and the Australian head of dance music at Sony, EMC Play offers emerging artists the chance to perform in front of talent bookers like Donnie Estopinal (Disco Donnie Presents/SFX), Johnny Shockey (Coachella/LED Presents), Bobby Runway (SBE / SLS LA), Gary Richards (Hard LA/Live Nation), Latane Hughes (Windish Agency) and many others.

Even better, for punters it means that Sydney’s Kings Cross will turn into a playground of multiple showcase parties featuring the best up and coming antipodean dance acts, for the price of an AUD$29(+BF) early bird ticket (AUD$49+BF full price; EMC delegates get free entry to all EMC Play events – delegate passes start at AUD$299).

“It’s a true feast for any serious electronic music fan,” EMC Play programmer Dan Zilber said in a press release. “Music fans will get a wristband that provides access to multiple venues over two nights to see some of the best emerging and established music in Australia and the world.”

“Our vision is for EMC Play to be a crucial stepping stone in discovering the next Flume or the next Will Sparks,” added EMC founder Neil Ackland. “It gives artists the opportunity to perform in front of some of the world’s biggest talent buyers and A&R Executives, who are coming to Australia exclusively for EMC…

“We make no secret that EMC aims to become the Asia-Pacific equivalent of international events like Amsterdam Dance Event, SXSW and Miami Music Week. A key formula in all of their success is building the event around a localised entertainment precinct.”

EMC Play takes over Kings Cross in Sydney, Australia, for two nights of showcase parties on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December – get early bird tickets for the parties and EMC Delegate passes here. The full line-up of events, venues and artists set to perform at EMC Play will be announced in early November.
