Dancing Astronaut - EDM, trap, techno, deep house, dubstep
Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying.
Terrence Parker has initiated a new wave of Detroit house magic over the years, landing comfortably among Defected’s ranks since 2012. His ‘Deeep Detroit Heat Intrumental’ of recent single “Open Up Your Spirit” pays testament to the timeless influence of the city with the sort of soulfull panache we have come to expect from the man lesser known as DJ Extraordinaire.

2. Poland’s Klaves lands on easy grooving instrumental form with his latest A-side “People.” As well as being a spotlight moment for the new Beatclub staple, the tracks shows the ‘less-is-more’ mentality taking European house music back to a worthy peak in stamina.

3. At just 17-years-old, Austria’s Filous has flown relatively low under the radar, but his days there sound short lived. At a time when ‘mellow’ house and such other tired sub-handles are aplenty, his remix of “Ohio” lets a smooth and emotively charged sound scope do all the work for a real gem of a prospect for the industry’s calmer poised remits.

4. Aidan Lavelle is an outright British bombshell who has rallied an impressive balance between the deep and the progressive throughout 2014. “Stars” alongside Robbie Akbal is a deeply atmospheric and relatively chilled embodiment of that mantra, one that should have you sold on the impending heavyweights musical headspace as we move towards 2015.

5. “My Heart” is not only one of Smith & Westin’s finest studio moments, but an uplifting finale to this week’s antidote to all things Sunday. A blend of raw instrumentation and upfront club mechanics, the track samples from across the genre playbooks to forge a final spurt of energy to see you through the seventh day in style.
