Category: Last night Diplo delivered a treat for fans of all things bass, house, grime and trap, inviting Chase & Status to celebrate the fifth birthday of their label MTA Records by taking over his Radio 1 show Diplo & Friends for two hours; and the duo delivered in spades, bringing not just “the best of the last five years of MTA” but three of their brightest stars: TCTS, GotSome and Bobby Tank.
Chase & Status kicked things off themselves with a snappy half hour that ranged across some of the label’s biggest hits, from Ben Pearce’s sultry What I Might Do to Nero’s Satisfy, some wub-heavy dubstep action and their own rave-up anthem from 2013 Your Love, before handing over to half hour sets from Manchester’s TCTS (bringing the deep, futuristic house vibes), Bristol’s GotSome (who ramped up the energy with some Wiley, their Major Lazer remix and a few Dirtybird selections) and the king of maximal-glitchy-keytar-glitter-explosions, London’s Bobby Tank (who dropped five of his own tunes, amidst some Lido, RL Grime vs TNGHT and Louis Futon).
It’s an action packed two hours from the MTA Records crew, covering everything from hectic glitch jungle to smooth throw-back deep house, and you can listen to it in full over at the BBC website, or by clicking play below.
