Dancing Astronaut - EDM, trap, techno, deep house, dubstep
At just 17 years old, Dutch prodigy David Lawson, artist name WRLD, has developed an undeniably original sound and style way beyond his years. With the release of his 4-track debut EP, Chase It, the Monstercat signee maintains his future bass production while daringly exploring elements of pop and glitch hop. Enlisting newcomer vocalists Savoi, Richard Caddock and Veronik Redd, Chase It sees David venture into a new foray of melodious pop-tinged records that provide an airy ode to the dwindling days of summer. Tracks like “Chase It” and “Little Too Close” emanate a fun, effortless and organic vibe while the record’s more mellowed tune “Echo” rectifies a melancholic disposition.
In regards to the inspiration and direction behind his debut body of work, Lawson affirms: “The main goal for my EP was to take my sound to the next level by making it pop-inspired and catchier. Pop music is more interesting to me than any other type of music, so it seemed like the right choice to me to move into this direction. I also wanted to move away from doing exclusively future bass and broaden my style a bit.”
