Hudson Mohawke takes on Boards of Canada for his latest remix

Category: EDM NEWS

We all miss TNGHT. Perhaps Hudson Mohawke‘s latest remix is a little show of nostalgia to that same effect. Last year in an hour-long mix for Beats 1, HudMo dropped a never-before-heard TNGHT edit of Boards of Canada’s “Amo Bishop Roden,” nearly two years after the trap duo hung it up and went their separate ways. Now we have HudMo offering his own remix of the same track, taking on fellow Warp Records label-mates for a grinding rework of his own.

Swapping out the original’s distant, analog-inspired ambiance for a gritty, heavy-handed trap rework, Hudson Mohawke transforms the track into a bombastic hip-hop instrumental that deviates from the original just enough to pique fans’ interest. The Scottish beat maker keeps his remix effort subtle, and though Lunice is nowhere to be found on this edit, the HudMo solo effort still does “Amo Bishop Roden” considerable justice.
